Optimist Junior Linkster Tour(BC) – June 24, 2010 @ Murdo-Frazer GC, N.Vancouver

NEWS - June 28, 2010

Age 10 and under boy and girl golfers enjoyed a day of sunshine on one of the best par 3 golf courses in the greater lowermainland of Vancouver at the Par 54, 1256 yard course in North Vancouver. The golf course has it all, with tall stately trees, pristine lakes, exciting elevation changes for the all Par 3 layout and great condition.

Age 6 & Under division was won by Richmond's Ryan Yap, his first title/trophy win on the Tour this year. Ryan's older brother Justin is the inspiration and Ryan has the talent too, chipping in for a birdie two on the ninth hole in front of an appreciative gallery around the clubhouse. Newcomer Enrico Cordero from Delta was happy for second place and the silver medal, with his older brother Lorenzo also a great source of inspiration. Age 7 – 8 boys, saw the lowest round of the day, 63 by Markus Yiu of Vancouver , just edging the fast improving Sher Sidhu of Surrey, who gladly has the silver medal presented to him. Whistler's Hilo Yamamoto was in good form too and playing more events as school is just about out for the year. Hilo's bronze medal performance will bring him back for more.

Age 9 – 10 boys division saw some great golf and oh so close scoring! It took another playoff for first place trophy position, and Zack Ryujin of North Vancouver won out over Richmond's Justin Yap, both boys firing 66's. This was Justin Yap's third playoff appearance in the past two weeks! Another local favourite, Sean Buckles of North Vancouver fired his best ever round of 67 to happily grab the bronze medal for third spot in the North Vancouver Junior Classic

Junior Girls division winner, from Surrey, Claire Lovan, always enjoys playing with her pals and seeing the wildlife and flowers around the golf course too. Her 70 was good enough for top spot over Amy Ehlert of Maple Ridge who takes silver for second and welcome aboard to Surrey's Angel Lin, playing her first Junior Linkster Tour event and playing very well too. There have been more girls than ever this year – welcome!
