The popular and multi-faceted golf centre in south Surrey, have been sponsors of Junior Linkster golf ever since they opened for business almost ten years ago. The family run operation offers all the amenities any golfer would need to enjoy golf. The “links style” course is a treat to play and calls on your short shot skill and putting dexterity to allow the most success. Anyone can make a birdie or better at Panorama.
Age 6 & Under “Pee Wees” really had fun today, and young Jason Xie of Vancouver was all smiles as he raised high his first place trophy for all to see. His two birdies on the back nine left no doubt as to who was going to walk away with the title. It couldn't get any closer for second and third position, as both Elvis Lu of Surrey and Nathan Boal of Burnaby, had the same score. Elvis had a 38 on the back nine to take the silver medal this time and Nathan happily accepts the bronze medal around his neck!
Age 7 – 8 “Pee Wees” saw the tightest possible scoring breakdown for first, second and third, with Vancouver's Markus Yiu returning a great score of 58, with a back nine 27 for the win over the favorite, Ilirian Zalli, also from Vancouver. Ilirian got off to an uncharacteristic start with a 5 on the first hole and almost made it back on top with his 59 score. Young Jeevan Sihota of Victoria shot a solid 60 for the bronze medal and really has come on strong this year – and he is only 6 years of age, “playing up” due to his improving play since last year. Great golf for our junior linkster players.
Age 9 – 10 “Divots” division saw Perry Xin of Vancouver fire a super back nine score of 25, two under par for the nine, to finish the day at 53, one under par! Perry is tuning up, as are all the players, for the upcoming Callaway Junior World in San Diego. Second spot and the silver medal belong to Richmond's Michael Crisologo, with the third spot bronze medal going to one of our most improved golfers of the year, Trevor Daykin of Surrey. Great to see how quickly any golfer can improve with competition.
Junior Girls winner, Claire Lovan of Surrey, is keeping up with her older brother Sy and consistently showing off her winning skills. Claire fired a great 67 for the first place trophy! Maple Ridge's Amy Ehlert has found the winners circle too lately, taking the silver medal this time, with Euna Han of Coquitlam, a newcomer to the Tour, taking the bronze medal, just one stroke behind Amy. Our thanks to young Aleksis Holt of Surrey who read out the Optimist “Creed” to one and all!
