A break in our bleak weather, for a few hours, allowed a Friday afternoon tournout of junior boy and girl golfers to take on the testing Fraser River layout in Southlands. The Age 11-12 “Bear Cubs” division title was claimed by Surrey's Sy Lovan. Sy had four birdies in the first ten holes and cruised to win by three shots over A.J. Ewart of Coquitlam, who had 16 pars and just two bogies. That's great golf! The bronze medal goes to an always competitive Taylor Patrick of Surrey, expanding his trophy cabinet!

Age 13-15 “Tiger Cubs” players could not match Sy Lovan's heroic's today, but still had some solid and exciting golf, with Richmond's Donald Qiu have three timely birdies on the front nine to fire a solid 61 and take the first place trophy. The silver medal goes to Chris Crisologo, also of Richmond, and his three birdies helped him recorrd a 62, just one stroke behind the winner and just one stroke ahead of the bronze medalist, Trevor Yu of Vancouver. Very entertaining golf was on display in this group

Junior Girls division golfers also had very close scores among the winners, with the leader and title winner, Shania Remandaban of Coquitlam recording a 70 for first place trophy. One slim stroke behind Shania was the overly deliberate Sumie Francois of Burnaby, at 71. Newcomer Yena Lee of Vancouver shot 73, finishing three over par on the last three holes. No doubt Yena will be back for more, thus helping her sharpen her competitive skills in some terrific golf on very challenging golf courses coming up.
