Former Optimist junior golfer Jason Day, 22, won his first PGA TOUR event this past weekend, as he took first place in the HP Byron Nelson Championship at the TPC Four Seasons Resort in Dallas, Texas. In 2004, Day, 16, took second place in the boys 16-18 division of the Optimist International Junior Golf Championships.
Day wasn't the only former Optimist participant at the top of the leaderboard this weekend. 2001 Optimist Champion Jeff Overton finished tied for second in the PGA tournament.
