The hilly, challenging but emminently fair Kensington GC in North Burnaby provided a terrific venue for the younger golfers Age 6 & Under, and another victory was racked up in fine fashion by Jeevan Sihota of Victoria. Jeevan shot a 65 for the first place Trophy and a very close match followed with Nathan Boal of Burnaby edging out Jason Xie of Vancouver by one slim stroke. Silver and bronze medals go to Nathan and Jason, respectively, while Jeevan has shown to be eligible to “play up” into the Age 7-8 division. Well done Jeevan!
Age 7 – 8 “Pee Wees” winner, but this time in a playoff, was the favourite, Ilirian Zalli of Vancouver. Ilrian tied for first with Vancouver's David HU, both at 60 for the 18 holes! Silver medal was the consolation for David but he will win and very soon! Markus Yiu of Vancouver takes the bronze medal for third, confirming his up and coming star status.
Age 9 – 10 “Divots” division winner, again, was Raymond Li of Vancouver. Raymond notched two 2's at Kensington and his score of 60 edged out fellow competitor Michael Crisologo of Richmond, so this time it's Raymond with the trophy, Michael with the silver and Top Lau, also of Richmond, in third spot, despite a warning on slow play. Our Junior Linkster events, clearly mark on the back of the scorecard, the basic rules, such as taking one or preferably no practice swings, continuous putting(no re-marking the ball) legible scorecards.
Junior Girls Division has proven extremely rewarding and beneficial for Surrey's Claire Lovan who takes another first place trophy with a no nonsens, one birdie 69. Silver medal to Miss Toby Lau of Richmond, another family win. Maple Ridge's Amy Ehlert makes another appearance on the medal podium and adds a bronze medal for third to her growing collection.
Best round of the day, though, to Vancouver's Tiffany Kong, firing a 58. Tiffany looks forward to representing BC in the Callaway Junior World Championship next July. She knows how to play great golf!
