Age 11-12 “Bear Cubs” Our BC weather this year has been unpredictable and wind, rain and wild conditions often add to the challenge of specially unique golf courses, such as the wonderful Sunrise GC in Surrey provides. Solid shots and sharp attention to detail around the greens will allow a respectable result. The steady and dedicated game of Richmond's Philip Mak prevailed in a close match with A. J. Ewart of Coquitlam. Philip's 63 took the first place trophy and he had the only two birdie 2's of the day. AJ settled for the silver medal, with Surrey's Sy Lovan finishing a surprising third. Sy has done so well on the Vancouver & Districts Inter-Club Tour(BCGA Zone 4) and had a reminder of the value of the short shots needed to excel at Sunrise.
Age 13 & Up “Tiger Cubs” winner was Noah Driessen of Deroche, BC, and he was unopposed, cruising through the testing and hilly layout with a 73.
Junior Girls Division sees newcomer Gloria CHOI of Langley win again with a steady and solid score of 70. The first place trophy to Gloria and a happy Hannah Lee of Surrey gracdiously accepts the silver medal for second spot. Our thanks to Sunrise GC, who offered free practice rounds for the event. The golf course is in great shape and located at 184th and Highway 10, just before Langley.
