Vancouver, British Columbia OPTIMIST Junior Linkster Tour – April 17, 2010

NEWS - April 21, 2010

Vancouver Parks Golf, our hosts for the Junior Golf Classic at the Queen Elizabeth Park GC on “Little Mountain”, Vancouver, Par 54, 1250 yards

Optimistic young golfers play rain or shine and we had rain today, but lots of inner sunshine displayed by junior linksters. Age 6 & Under division, with smaller than normal fields so far this year, featured, nevertheless, the considerable talent of Victoria's Jeevan Sihota taking another first place trophy with a 62! Newcomer Nathan Boal of Burnaby and Rogan Campbell of Richmond had a great battle out there with Nathan taking the silver medal by two over Rogan.

Age 7 – 8 “Pee Wees” had another full field with Michael Crisologo of Richmond firing a nifty 56 for the win. Second spot and the silver medal went to Vancouver's David HU, new to the Tour this year. David's three 2's sure helped! In third spot for the bronze medal was the popular Markus YIU of Vancouver.

Age 9 – 10 “Divots” winner was clearly ahead with a smooth 58, that belonging to young Miss Sumie Francois of Burnaby. Silver medal to the Eugene Kao of Vancouver, making his return to the Tour a successful one. Vancouver's Raymond Li, always in the hunt, gathers a bronze medal for third at a score of 62.

Junior Girls Division featured a full field with exhibition players of various ages who just want to sharpen their short games. Good example of this is Vancouver's Tiffany Kong who, though just 9 years of age, has been opted up to the Age 11-12 division and thus not eligible for trophies or medals in her actual age division. Tiffany's 60 would have won the first place trophy – pity.

Surrey's Claire LOVAN is certainly happy to take the First Place Trophy with a solid 66, just getting by Toby Lau of Vancouver, who takes silver. Third spot for girls age 10 & Under goes to a keen and determined Fiona Reuter, Vancr
