The sporty south Delta layout offered up some very sunny and warm conditions and the junior boy and girl golfers enjoyed it immensely, just finishing, however, as darkness fell. Age 11 – 12 “Bear Cubs” Our youngest 11 year old, A.J. Ewart of Coquitlam, who turns 11 in early May, was in top form and returned the second best score of the day and first in his division to take the top Trophy and first place with a super 72. Second spot and the silver medal goes to Vancouver's Patrick Tan, who had a better back nine than Noah Guise of Port Moody. Noah settled for the bronze, another podium finish.

Age 13 & Up “Tiger Cubs” division saw the best round of the day submitted by Brett Sherwood of Surrey, a 71 by the smooth swinging long hitter who headed to the putting green to solve a few putting errors. Great practice to putt in the dark! Second spot and the silver medal to the home town favourite, Aaron Ferrer of Delta who also won out on a count-back over fellow competitor James Hunter of Vancouver who took home a bronze medal. Also tied at the 73 score, was Langley's Cole Briggs and it took a further count-back to finalize medal positions.

Junior Girls division winner, her second in a row, is Langley's Gloria Choi whose 77 topped the field. Second place silver goes to newcomer Kathy Lim, also of Langley, and another countback winner over young Shania Remandaban of Coquitlam. It's great to see more junior girls taking on the great game of golf and we certainly welcome their cheery and optimistic approach to golf, exemplifying the true “spirit of the game”. All girls welcome!
