Event #4 – 2010 Spring Match Play, Mar. 27-28 @ Rupert Park & Kensington GC's
NEWS - March 29, 2010
Vancouver Parks Board golf courses were cut and trimmed for the Optimist Junior Linksters of British Columbia on the weekend for old style golf at “match play”! Good weather graced the competition also, with sun, wind and clouds.
Age 6 & Under contests were very spirited, with Jeevan Sihota of Victoria taking the crown over newcomer Zack Wilensky from Coquitlam, who takes the silver medal. Well done Zack! Third place bronze medal to Sher Sidhu of Surrey. Eric Li of Richmond and the youngest golfer, age 4 ½ took fourth spot!
Age 7 -8 Division, with an especially strong field, proved out their talent with exciting and precise golf right to the finals where Ilirian Zalli of Vancouver won over new Junior Linkster member David HU, also of Vancouver. David is happy with the silver medal and in another power packed Bronze medal match, Michael Crisologo of Richmond got by North Vancouver's Zach Ryujin.
Age 9 – 10 Boys played a 36 hole final with the veteran A. J. Ewart from Coquitlam crusing to victory over another new Junior Linkster golfer, Top LAU of Richmond. Age 11-12 Boys was easy to determine, with Andrew Wong of West Vancouver prevailing. Andew and AJ had a concurrent match which took extra holes to determine a winner and AJ was “the man”.
Age 13 & Up division match up was over 36 Holes also, with Coquitlam's Nick YAN displaying mid season form in defeating Ryan Wong of West Vancouver. Ages 11-12 and 13 & Up played kensington GC on Saturday and switch to Rupert Park for the finals.
