Event #3 Junior & Divot Teams – March 20, 2010 JUNIOR LINKSTER TOUR – BC

NEWS - March 22, 2010

The Guildford Golf Course in Surrey, BC were hosts for teams of developing junior boys and girls paired with more experience junior boys and girls in a best-ball format. Three divisions were established based on the various team combinations.

Division I featured some of British Columbia's most experienced junior golfers, headed by Kevin Kwon, age 15, of Pitt Meadows, paired with his 10 year old sister, Cecile Kwon. Team Kwon were in fine form and returned a score of 62 for the fifteen
hole event, taking the Gold Medals. Another pairing of Cole Briggs of Langley and Eric Wu of Surrey, returned an excellent score of 70 to take the Silver Medals. Third place Bronze Medals go the enthusiastic pair of Riley Baynton of Coquitlam and
Philip Mak of Vancouver. Well done!

Division II, saw some inspiring shots too, with newcomers Gloria Choi of Langley team up with Surrey's Stella Lee to win the Gold Medals with a super 70. The Silver Medals went to beginning golfer, 7 year old Sher Sidhu of Surrey, paired with the long hitting Min Ji Kim of Abbotsford. Bronze Medals go the the youngest and happiest pair of junior girls, Claire Lovan of Surrey and Amy Ehlert of Maple Ridge. These two youngsters really do smell the flowers and even provide a bouquet to the
tournament organizers! Cherry blossoms and Easters flowers were much appreciated!

Division III, found a good mix of youth and experience too, especially with the Gold Medal winners, Miss Shania Remandaban of Coquitlam, paired with young Markus Yiu of Vancouver. This dynamic duo fired a fabulous 64 for the win. Another very young duo of newcomers Kyle Chang of Westbank near Kelowna, and Jess Lee of Surrey team up for an equally spectacular 65 for the Silver Medals. Optimist Junior Linkster Tour in British Columbia are glad to see so many new faces, such as the duo of Ethan Cho of Abbotsford and Jack Zhang of West Vancouver, who won the Bronze. One unofficial Team of two had fun too, recording a smooth 64, and was made up of a returning Optimist Junior Linkster golfer Neil Gatpandan of North Vancouver and HW.
