Optimist JUNIOR LINKSTER TOUR CANADA(BC) 2010 Golf Tour Underway!
NEWS - March 15, 2010
While the world's Winter Paralympians were taking place on the snowy slopes,
British Columbia Junior Linkster golfers took on the Vancouver Parks Board's
langara GC in Vancouver. Four yardages were used at Langara GC, from 2200 for 9
holes to 6300 yards for 18 holes. 39 optimistic and enthusiastic boys and girls age 6-18
put their fine form on display for the season opening Vancouver Parks City Golf Series.
Our sunshine was of the liquid variety but good fellowship and the great game of
golf caused one and all to enjoy the experience of seeing and meeting new and old pals.
Age 7 & Under Gold medal winner was the home course favourite, Dylan
Bercan of Vancouver, followed closely by Moe Norman's understudy, Ilirian Zalli,
picking up the Silver, also of Vancouver, with the always steady Raymond Li of
Vancouver, taking the Bronze medal.
Age 9-10 Boys division winner was Richmond's Justin YAP, over Jack Dickie.
Age 11-12 Boys division winner was the classy Perry Xin of Vancouver, firing a
very solid 75, just edging two exciting players, Christian Zalli of Vancouver and
Henry Lee of Coquitlam by a single stroke that necessitated a tie breaker for medals.
Age 13 & Up division winner, with 4 birdies, was Delta's Aaron Ferrer, at 73,
returning the boys' best round of the day under challenging conditions! Chris Crisologo
of Richmond at 74 takes the silver medal and Brian Harrison takes bronze.
Girls Age 10 & Under divisision winner, and always a contender, Pitt Meadows'
Cecile Kwon takes Gold, Claire Lovan of Surrey, Silver, Megan Yim, Vancouver 3rd.
Girls Age 11 & Up division winner, with the day's best round for girls, is one of
our world class young ladies, Lily HE of Pitt Meadows, returning a 37, just two over!
Veteran Shania Remandaban of Coquitlam, and Eizza Hernandez of Richmond 3rd.
