| Event # 31 Optimist Junior Linkster Tour Canada – Sponsored by Marketplace IGA. Junior/Divot Tour Championship August 27-28 @ Heather Hills GC(Maple Ridge,BC) & Newlands GC(Langley, BC). NEWS - September 7, 2011 Two super golf courses for super young golfers! The 36 hole event got underway at the new Heather Hills GC in Maple Ridge. The site of a hazelnut farm, is now a family owned and run society. Their USGA specification golf course is ideal for golfers of any age with multiple tees and always in great condition. The nine hole course is operated by the Robson family, always there to welcome and encourage junior golf. The juniors can't wait to tour the course round and round! Our second day play was at the unique and very sporty Newlands executive golf course. It has eleven holes and we play them and the first seven again to make up 18. It's a Par 62 this way and has all the fun and challenging features of much longer golf courses. You'll always want to play it again! For the youngest golfers, Ethan Posthumus of Coquitlam was really on his game and returned a pair of 66's! Fantastic golf for another example of how to really “play” the game. Next to Ethan was Surrey's Noah Karlgren. Both lads played in San Diego this year at the Callaway Junior World's. Age 7-8 Boys saw the familiar and talented Jeevan Sihota of Victoria take the title with the lowest scores of the tournament, a total of 126, great golf over two challenging layouts. Second spot and silver medal medal went to local favourite Thomas Reed of Maple Ridge, who matched Jeevan on day one and finished just four behind. Zachary Wilensky of Coquitlam took third spot bronze and just keeps getting better each year. Great to see the up and coming golfers who really “play” the game. Age 8 & Under Girls winner and a frequent top 3 finisher is Angel Lin of Surrey. She was uncontested as the other young junior girls were on holiday or enjoying the PNE. Age 9 – 10 Boys winner and a new fresh face to Optimist Junior Linkster golf, Luka Dolman of Vancouver, had four birdies over the two days to take the first place trophy. Richmond's Justin Yap was charging hard to catch Luka, falling just short Sher Sidhu of Langley grabbed the bronze. Age 9 – 10 Girls winner, Euna Han of Coquitlam, just turned 9 recently and continued her winning ways this week in taking the title by three strokes over Maple Ridge's always happy Amy Ehlert. Third place medal, a bronze, goes to another Lin, Ashley Lin of Surrey. Good golf girls! Age
