EVENT #2: Junior Adult Teams - 2011 Optimist Junior Linkster Tour(BC) sponsored by Marketplace IGA

NEWS - March 20, 2011

Spring break means golf time for many junior golfers and action was underway on three fronts this weekend, March 18-19, 2011 in Vancouver and the Fraser Valley. Junior golfers age 15 and under teamed up on Saturday at the Guildford GC in Surrey for a “best-ball” team match and received their registration/member items, such as bag tag, twoell, magnetic ball marker and the new PGA Rule book. Sunshine allowed the play to be far more pleasant than previous weekends so spring is near! The Vancouver Golf Show was also on downtown at the Convention Centre and the Optimist Junior Linkster Tour was showing off the best of Junior Golf with a professional video presentation done at last Little Master's site, the Kings Links in Ladner. Brad Ewart's trick shot show entertained the finishers and sparked some enthusiastic and realistic dreams for 2011 junior golf and beyond.

On Sunday, RCGA Certified Rules expert and long-time friend of Optimist Junior Linkster golf, Robert Redekop, also Club Captain at Mayfair Lakes, put on a comprehensive Rules Seminar for boys and girls Age 10 & Under. The Birdies & Buckets Golf Centre on the King George Highway was the venue for the Seminar and nine holes of golf with the parents following the verry informative Rules session. Panorama Links had 28 Teams taking part over the nine holes, with playoff's necessary to determine the first, second and third place teams. Therre were lots of birdies out there, and also great fun with putting contests and food for the young at heart. Great weather also blessed the gang again.
